  1. One new sidelight on ‚Äúthe medium is the 
  2. message‚Äù is perhaps relevant. When a new service 
  3. environment such as that of Gutenberg 
  4. typography begins to come into play, all existing 
  5. forms are processed through that new form. All 
  6. inputs, old and new, thus acquire the same final 
  7. form. The Gutenberg environment processed every 
  8. type of human awareness and activity from 
  9. Machiavelli to Ben Franklin. Every kind of 
  10. knowledge becomes applied knowledge by this 
  11. process. By the same token, when the satellites 
  12. go around the planet, Nature is scrapped and the 
  13. planet becomes an art form. Nature itself appears 
  14. as a mess. Pollution becomes universal awareness
